Our final day in Rome started with a visit to the Vatican City - the world's smallest country. There are three main sites to see in the Vatican: St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel, and Vatican Museum. And they are all worth a visit and someday we will visit the museum. We only explored St. Peter's Basilica on this trip. Rome MMXV – Day 1
Hi there, I finally got the chance to post our first day in Rome. Joe and I looked forward to the third segment of our Italian trip - the city of the great empire. This is another one of my fave European city. The train ride from Florence to Rome took about 1 and ½ hours and by the time we arrived and settled in our hotel it was almost noon. Day 2 - We started our final day in Rome with a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms, and St. Peter's Basilica. More photos and details of this tour will be shown on my next post. Later in the afternoon, we headed to Piazza Navona to relax, "people watch," and enjoy a couple of Tartufo. Rome MMXIII
Day 1 - Our drive from Florence to Rome took over 3 hours. (We had to make a stop in Florence to visit Piazzale Michelangelo.) After checking into our hotel and resting for a couple of hours, we took the Metro to the Colosseum. We had enough time to visit and explore "the remains of old Rome" including the Colosseum, Constantine's Arch, and the Roman Forum.
