After checking in and settling in our room, we headed to the St. Regis Bar and sat on the patio to watch and enjoy the sunset. While waiting for our order, we were joined by our red crested cardinal friend. What a pleasant surprise! R & R in Kauai
We are on our way to spend a week in Kauai to get some much-needed R & R for my hardworking hubby. Actually, I could use a little myself ;) At LAX, so ready to board... On our way to the hotel, we stopped by this place to buy some shave ice but ended up ordering halo-halo instead. It's not quite as good as the real (Filipino) deal, but was still good to eat on a hot day. Aloha! Our destination and home for the next 7 days. The view from our ... View the Post
Our Vatican Museums Tour
Here are details and photos from our Vatican Museums tour including Raphael Rooms and Loggia, the Borgia Apartment, (Sistine Chapel - no photos were allowed), and St. Peter's Basilica. Day 2 - We started our final day in Rome with a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms, and St. Peter's Basilica. More photos and details of this tour will be shown on my next post. Later in the afternoon, we headed to Piazza Navona to relax, "people watch," and enjoy a couple of Tartufo. We made time to visit the Pantheon and were very impressed by this architectural masterpiece! Before calling it a night, we stopped by and took a few shots of the very crowded ... View the Post
Rome MMXIII
Day 1 - Our drive from Florence to Rome took over 3 hours. (We had to make a stop in Florence to visit Piazzale Michelangelo.) After checking into our hotel and resting for a couple of hours, we took the Metro to the Colosseum. We had enough time to visit and explore "the remains of old Rome" including the Colosseum, Constantine's Arch, and the Roman Forum. To help ensure our return trip to Rome, we tossed coins at the Trevi Fountain. And my swollen and sprained ankle did fine ;) We ended our ... View the Post
Siena in Tuscany
This afternoon we visited Siena - a medieval city in Tuscany. We had a late start due to the pouring rain :( but the scenic drive made up for it. The Palazzo Publico (town hall) - it's original purpose was to house the republican government. The Courtyard Fonte Gaia - (Fountain of Joy) Capella di Piazza Siena's Gothic Cathedral or Duomo By the time we were ready to visit the museum and ... View the Post
