We started our day early in preparation for our trip to the west side of Kaua'i. We drove to Waimea Canyon aka "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and enjoyed the scenic views from the lookout. We attempted to hike one of the trails in the area, but only got halfway. The trail was too muddy and slippery from the rain earlier in the morning. So, we drove to the Kalalau Lookout and was greeted with the spectacular view of the heart of the Kalalau Valley. It was one awesome view! Go around 0900 or ... View the Post

Kayak and Snorkel Tour on Hanalei River
Despite the rain, we decided to go on a Kayak and Snorkel Tour on Hanalei River. So glad we did, we had a great time! Our tour guides talked about Hawaiian history, the mountains - including Puff the Magic Dragon, and taught us some words in Hawaiian (sadly, I can only recall a few.) This picture reminds me of how peaceful and beautiful this place was. Our tour guides entertained us with a few Hawaiian songs during lunchtime. While Joe and the rest of ... View the Post
North Shore Beach Day
It was a beautiful day in Princeville! We headed towards Ha'ena State Park and attempted a hike on the Kalalau Trail. On the way, we stopped by a couple of beaches to enjoy the view, get a breath of fresh air, and take photos. Tunnels Beach We probably hiked less than a mile, before heading back. It rained earlier and the trail was slippery and muddy. Needless to say, I chickened out. It was too much for my healing sprained right ankle. We ended up in ... View the Post

Sunday Adventure in Southern Kauai
It rained hard on our first full day in Princeville. I've read that if it rains on one side of Kauai just head to the opposite direction and chances are it's sunny in that part of town. So, we drove South. Along the way, in Kapa'a, I spotted a fruit stand with lots of tropical fruits on display. Hubby was brave enough to try these Rambutans and actually enjoyed them. We ended up buying the remaining Rambutans, a total of six bags! Next stop - Olympic Cafe for lunch. Chicken ... View the Post
